U2 lost me a long time ago. I too watched some of the webcast and had the same thought - "WTF?!?!?" Something I realized later though - I haven't read a word about the music in any reviews anywhere - its all been about the stage, the scale and "the Biggest Band in The World". That lack of good music and Bono's preaching keep me well away.

I see your point. Totally.

I would say: What the hell happened to ... DM as well? You are not going to say their last album is precisely the epic, awesome Depeche Mode sound. After Ultra, well... Exciter is not that popular, and PTA sounds so strangely loud and compressed to me.
Peace will come to me, just wait and see!
(I love you DM... all of your albums!)

Or maybe because we almost never get so huge shows over here I wouldn't have minded going there and enjoy as much as I can...

The sponsor naming was lame, I agree. Oh well, it was only for a moment. At least he didn't thank sponsors after every song. :P

I like many songs post-Pop. I love Exciter. I love solo Dave Gahan. Am I that lame? :P

When we talk about the music industry... seems like music doesn't matter anymore... at all. Sad.

ps. Calm blue ocean. ;)

Pop was the last U2 album I enjoyed. After that everything sounded like radio blah-blah to me.
I agree that the problem is that it's now about everything around the music, and no longer about the music itself. Of what value is a stunning show with mediocre music? It's not worth $250, that's for sure. ZooTV was an example of a mindblowing show with awesome visuals that was totally worth it because of - first and foremost - the quality of the music.
