DESCRIPTION:
In 1998, I was a few years into my contract services for Warner Brothers. I was hired for radio edits, as well as in-house DVDs, ringtones and websites.
I always was surprised that something I loved (editing) could earn me money. The surprise was even larger when I got the chance to edit the music of bands I loved. While I would have done Depeche Mode radio edits for free, I was definitely not going to pass on a paycheck! :)
In 1998, I did two edits of Depeche Mode for Warners: The Gus Gus Mix and the Dan The Automator Mix of "Only When I Lose Myself". In the end, the label opted to only use the Gus Gus Mix fo promotion.
Originally only available on a very limited promo CD-R from Warners, and played on KROQ a few times by Richard Blade, here is my edit of the Gus Gus Mix of "Only When I Lose Myself".

The following are edits and mixes I did for KROQ FM in Los Angeles in the 90s. For the radio edits, I reworked existing remixes, using creative editing, to make more "radio friendly" (shorter) versions of the existing mixes. These mixes and edits were exclusive to KROQ, back in the days when radio stations would seek out versions of songs no other station could get.
