Breakfast With The Beatles

DESCRIPTION: I first met Chris Carter back in 2002. My friend Ray was throwing a Beatles convention ("Liverpool Days - A Convention For Beatle Fans"). Ray asked me to work with the host, Chris, to put together videos for the event.

"Chris" turned out to be Chris Carter, the host of Breakfast With The Beatles.

Since that convention in 2002, I've done a lot of additional work with Chris. I created all the videos when he would have Beatle movie nights. I started up his website. I set up his home studio. I re-edited "When I'm 64" every year to reflect Paul McCartney's actual age. I even designed the Breakfast With The Beatles logo you see in the splash above. Like I said, I've done a lots of things with Chris. The one thing I am most proud of, though, is creating the intro to his radio show.

When I heard the original intro (just an announcer over a song), I knew I could do better.

I did.

The file you can listen to on this page is the version of the Breakfast With The Beatles intro from mid-2007. This is the KLOS-FM version. I have since also made a version for the show Chris hosts on The Beatles Channel (which he runs) on Sirius.

I have altered the show intro a few times over the years, when station slogans have changed or different voiceovers were needed, but this is pretty much the main show intro.

This is technically the most popular mix I have done for radio, playing pretty much every Sunday morning since 2005. As of this posting (March 19th, 2020), this is still the intro to the show. Fifteen years and counting!

Fun story: I was in London filming Depeche Mode play the London Wireless Festival (June 25th, 2006). A few days later, I flew home to Los Angeles. As soon as I had signal, I had messages from Chris. He had an extra ticket to a pre-opening show of The Beatles "Love" on June 29th. I repacked my suitcase, booked a room, and drove from LA to Vegas. He and his friend Seth sat up in the upper area of the Love theater. He gave me his second row seat. For the length of the show, I was completely in awe of the music production. Chris said he could see me thinking as I was watching the show. The next day I drove back to LA, and proceeded to recreate the first five minutes of The Beatles "Love", just from Beatles recordings I had. Chris played it that Sunday on his show, and immediately got a call from Capitol Records. :)
