DESCRIPTION:
The very first commercial 12 inch single I ever bought in a record store was "Say It Isn't So" by Hall & Oates. I already had a few promo 12" singles, so I understood the basic idea behind "dance mixes", but this 12" blew my mind.

I've always been a Hall & Oates fan, and part of the reason were their 12" mixes. I played the absolute hell out of the "Out Of Touch" Dub Version. Even as I type this, I am playing the Dub Version of "Out Of Touch" in my headphones (AIFF CD rip taken from a 2 CD Japanese compilation of their remixes).

I am also a huge fan of Def Leppard. My poor Mom had to hear Pyromania way too often.

Playing around with my little acapella machine, I surprised myself with how clean of an acapella I was able to get of Hall & Oates (thank you Peter Jackson, and all the people working on the latest algorithms!). Diving into my huge iTunes library to find a compatible song to mash Hall & Oates with was a bit of a time killer. I found songs that fit the mood, but not the voice...until Def Leppard.

I never imagined a heavy metal version of Hall & Oates. Now, it's all I hear! :)

A quick note about the music video. I see a few of the remaining "mashup guys" on TikTok who use A.I. to do fake vocals and fake videos. Now, I pride myself on using only master recording elements for my mixes, but I couldn't resist trying to do an A.I. music video.

The A.I. video quest ended very early on. (1) A.I. is not ready for prime time, and (2) the ethical question of using something (A.I.) that has "learned" by stealing content from the entire internet just rubbed me the wrong way. Yeah, a "mashup guy" is talking ethics.

I'm just playing around with a few songs when I do a mashup. A.I. literally scrapes content from EVERYWHERE, emulates it, and charges for the use of the services (without compensating any of the people whose content was stolen in order for the A.I. models to "learn"). I have never charged for a mashup, or used a mashup to monetize anything I do or offer. So, yeah, I quit the A.I. video crap. I threw the few bits I did complete at the end of the video above.
