DESCRIPTION:
I had started my morning with the goal of doing a Deconstruction mix of "One Step Ahead" by Aretha Franklin. After I was nearly done, I started thinking about "Ms Fat Booty" by Mos Def. As I had a working acapella of Aretha, I thought "Hey...let's throw a beat over this."
Ten minutes later, The Black Keys enter the game.
Instead of having the vocal duty fall solely on The Queen Of Soul, I decided to make the mix a duet of sorts (listen to the lyrics). I also give a nod to Ayatollah (producer of Mos Def's "Ms Fat Booty"), with some re-edits of Aretha.
Happy early Valentine's Day. :)
